The statistics master of science degree program prepares professionals in the development, research, and analysis of quantitative tools to turn ideas into intelligent, informed actions. The statistics MS offers two tracks of study: mathematical statistics for those who intend to pursue a PhD in statistics, and applied statistics primarily for those who want a terminal professional master’s degree.

Statistics faculty members provide close mentorship throughout the program and offer students numerous research opportunities. Faculty research areas range from the development of statistical methods for evolutionary biology and environmental science, computational statistics, statistics of genocide, and many others areas of specialization.

This Statistics program is offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, College of Arts and Sciences of the American University Washington DC.
