The program is cross-disciplinary and draws faculty from healthcare, business, engineering, and computer science to prepare future professionals with the technical, analytical, and innovation skills necessary to provide future leadership.
The program prepares individuals to function as Clinical Informaticists. Students specialize by selecting a program focus in either heath care analytics or clinical information systems. The program utilizes a residency model with placements in community agencies working with health care informatics professionals. In the residency, students develop the skills necessary to enter the field of health care informatics upon graduation.
The University of San Diego Health Care Informatics program is recognized as an approved educational partner by the Health Information Management and Systems Society (HIMSS). Graduates are prepared for certification through HIMSS.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Application Requirements:
- Applicants must have completed bachelors degree from an accredited university
- Submit official transcripts of all previous education completed
- Official transcripts must be evaluated course by course by an accredited agency like WES, ECE, IERF, SpanTran etc
- Basic computer and information management skills, including familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office products (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
- applicant should have one year of work experience (preferred but not required)
- Submit your resume that should include all previous education and professional experience
- Submit one professional letters of recommendation from employer
- Submit a statement of purpose in 500 words about your career goals and importance of graduate study at this point
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 83 in iBT; 237 in CBT; 580 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 7.0
