In the Philosophy Department, we cultivate habits of thinking critically and communicating effectively about significant matters to help people live more attentive, responsive, creative, and meaningful lives.
Students with a major in philosophy select: art and creativity; ethics and social justice; or an individualized emphasis. We also offer a minor in philosophy (which may be completed fully online) and a certificate in practical and interdisciplinary ethics. Students who choose philosophy as their second major, or students who minor in philosophy, may satisfy a significant number of requirements through completion of GCP (Global Citizenship Program) courses.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of all high school attended and other institutions
- Official transcripts should contain a list of all the courses completed, grades of all the coursework completed, credits, confirmation of graduation and degree conferred
- Submit an essay of 300-350 words describing why you want to study at the university
- Submit a resume highlighting your academic, professional and extracurricular activities
- Submit a letter of recommendation from your counselor, teacher discussing your character to succeed at the university level
- Submit English Language Proficiency test requirements
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum 80 in iBT; 550 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum 6.0
- Duolingo: minimum 110
