Undergraduates as well as graduate students have opportunities to carry out research in current fields of interest.
The principal research fields of the department are geochemistry, mineral physics, igneous petrology; geophysics, structural geology, tectonophysics; environmental science, hydrology; paleoceanography, paleoclimatology, sedimentology; and planetary geosciences. Emphasis in these different areas varies, but includes experimental, theoretical, and observational approaches as well as applications to field problems. Field studies of specific problems are encouraged rather than field mapping for its own sake. Interdisciplinary study with other departments and divisions is encouraged.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Requirements:
- Submit official transcripts of your high school and secondary school that you have completed
- Official transcripts should contain English translation if not originally in English
- Applicants should submit an essay about themselves
- Applicants can submit SAT/ACT scores for admission consideration
- Submit English Language Proficiency test scores
English Language Requirements:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 100 in iBT; minimum score of 600 in PBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 8.0
- Duolingo: minimum score of 130
