Bachelor of Arts [B.A] [English Education] From Claflin University

English Education majors at Claflin who intend to pursue certification in secondary education combine courses in both English and Education to fulfill South Carolina State certification requirements. In addition to English courses like Advanced Composition, Adolescent Literature, The Development of Modern English, Modern Grammar, Shakespeare, Major Black Writers and Literary Criticism, you'll study teaching methods and content courses in our School of Education. To successfully complete this program, students.need to achieve acceptable scores on Praxis Core and Praxis II standardized tests.

STUDENT OPPORTUNITIES AND EXPERIENCE

English Education majors have to complete approximately 100 pre-clinical hours of observation in high schools. In your final semester, you'll be placed in a high school as a teacher candidate to complete one semester of student teaching. All required coursework has to be completed prior to student teaching.
