A variety of interesting research is performed, often involving laboratory and field studies in conjunction with computational analysis.
A sampling of current research includes: snow and ice mechanics; geosynthetic applications for roadways; seismic capacity of bridge foundations; the use of non-conventional concrete mixtures as structural materials; intelligent transportation systems; recycled pavements; reconstructed wetlands; and the effects of wastewater applications on soil physics. Research in the areas of industrial water and wastewater systems, drinking water, bioremediation and microbial fouling control is performed by faculty with joint appointments to MSU's Center for Biofilm Engineering (CBE) and Civil Engineering Department

Academic Requirements:
- Applicant must have completed bachelors degree from an accredited university

- Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or equivalent on a scale of 4.0
