Academic Requirements:

  • Applicants must hold a Bachelors of Arts or Bachelors of science degree from an accredited university
  • Submit official transcripts in a sealed envelope that is signed by authorized official
  • Official transcripts must contain the list of all subjects taken and grades earned for each year of study
  • Submit an official proof of graduation that should include official graduation certificate or diploma
  • Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 3.0 or equivalent on a scale of 4 or a GPA of 3.25 in English related courses
  • Applicants must submit a well-written cover letter of approximately 500 words indicating how their education or work experience has prepared them for graduate studies, and they should outline their goals in pursuing a graduate degree in English at USI. 
  • Applicants must submit a writing sample of approximately 3500 words. Examples of writing samples include literary analyses, rhetorical analyses, grant applications, or any other kind of professional writing
  • Submit three recommendations
  • Submit English Language Proficiency test scores

English Language Requirements:

  • TOEFL: minimum 79 in iBT; 550 in PBT
  • IELTS: minimum 6.5
