- To recognize achievement in research, the Biology Department confers honors to some of its graduating seniors. Honors in Biology differs from honors in other programs and from the Honors College.
- Students who are majoring in biology are eligible for honors in biology as described by the requirements and criteria below. Students majoring in other departments/programs, such as biochemistry, must meet the requirements of their program/department to earn honors in their department/program.
- It is the major of the student candidate, not the department/program affiliation of the research mentor, which dictates the specific requirements for earning honors.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Applicants must have a high school degree from a recognised institution.
Indian Students Eligibility:
- Applicants must have passed 12th grade from a recognised institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test.
Scores Required
All non-native speakers of English must demonstrate English language proficiency. Students can demonstrate proficiency by submitting the following exams:
- TOEFL (79+)
- IELTS (6.0+)
- SAT (Evidence Based Reading & Writing (ERWS) component of 480+)
- ACT (Reading and English component scores totaling 34)
- Duolingo English Test (100+)
