Social sciences is a broad field that covers several subject areas – all important to a student’s education and development. This is the major you would choose to become a social studies teacher. Social sciences offers courses that help you understand the history and nature of human beings in a social context. With your degree to teach social sciences, you’ll be able to pass that knowledge and understanding on to the next generation.

Our faculty provides interesting courses that deal with an understanding of how humans have come to develop the surface of our planet, the history of that development, and the ways in which people govern themselves today. The interdisciplinary nature of our subjects allow for convenient overlap among topics and opportunity for discussion by means of different viewpoints. We work closely with the School of Education and Counseling in training teachers, and we collaborate with other departments in team-teaching courses.
