- The South Wales University offers an M.A in English by Research duration of 18 months.
- This course is offered on a full-time basis.
- This program is provided on-campus and off-campus.
- The MA English by Research is your opportunity to conduct in-depth research on a topic of your choice from the field of modern literary studies, relative to an area of staff expertise.
- This piece of original research will usually be based on close study of the primary texts as well as engagement with critical, contextual, and theoretical material as appropriate.

Students will conduct their research under the close supervision of a member of staff.
Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students should have completed a bachelor’s degree, or its equivalent, from a recognized university.
- Students should have a minimum of 2:1 Honours degree in an appropriate discipline.
- Students for research degrees must submit an online application accompanied by a research proposal which will be considered by the Faculty Research Programmes Committee
Indian Student Eligibility:
- Completed a 4-year UG degree with first class in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
Along with the minimum eligibility requirements, international students hailing from non-English speaking countries need to prove English proficiency through IELTS/TOEFL/any equivalent test to get admission to this program.
Required Document List
Following are the required Documents:
- Resume/CV - This provides a summary of a student's experience and skills.
- Higher Secondary School Certificate - The certificate provided by the education board after completion of the Higher secondary education.
- Statement of marks - The marks statement provided by the education board.
- Letter of Recommendation - This shows who recommended the student to pursue the degree.
- Statement of Purpose - This is an essay or any written statement written by the student while applying.
- English Language Requirement - This shows the test score of English Proficiency Exams such as IELTS, TOEFL, or PTE, etc.
- All applications must include two references on the headed paper from their referees which should be uploaded as a supporting document. Please note, College can not accept applications without these two references. At least one referee should be able to comment on academic/professional ability. References provided by relatives are not acceptable.
