In Stages 1 and 2 you study core elements from our common syllabus, developing your expertise in electrical machines and electronic communications systems.
You also study computer engineering skills, such as the processing of signals.
In Stage 3 you take specialist topics, such as:

This is complemented by a large individual design project such as developing an ultrasonic robot navigation system, multibiometric systems for face recognition and 3D reconstruction through stereo vision.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement
Academic Eligibility:
- Students should have a high school degree AAB excluding General Studies.

While they are willing to consider any combination of A Level subjects (excluding General Studies), they prefer students to be studying two of the following:
- Business Studies
- Sociology
- Psychology
- Politics/Government and Politics
- History
- Geography
- Law
- Criminology
- Religious Education
- Philosophy
- English Literature/English Language
- Languages
- Economics
- Accounting/Finance
- Mathematics/Sciences (in combination with at least one of the above subjects)

GCSE Mathematics and English (minimum grade B or 6) required if not taken at A or AS Level.
Indian Eligibility:
- Typically Newcastle recognizes an 80% average in Standard XII as comparable to AAB at A-Level.
