- At Chester, students explore the relationship between criminological theories and criminal justice policies and practices. Students will gain extensive understanding of the technical aspects of the criminal justice process, and also learn about the way that criminology can help us examine the various 'harms' and 'crimes' that occur domestically and internationally.
- In Year 1, students will begin to learn about key concepts which explain how crime and deviance is perceived by society and agents of social control.
- In Year 2, they will explore the relationship between the state and human rights; mental health and crime; and harm and victimisation.
- In Year 3, they will consider crimes and harms against the environment and wildlife; capital punishment; crime prevention; and relationships between offending/victimization and age. Students may also undertake a dissertation.
