Remarks :
There are negatives with this college as it is with every other institution. For example, the students who get admitted come from upper middle class families with little or no financial problem. Therefore there isn't much scope to improve if you need other people's help or their support. The students here show signs of lethargy. They are extremely friendly, but useless for other things.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course plan is extremely well thought out. The teachers proceed with the course according to the plan provided by the college. Everything from data structures and programming languages to economics and organisational management has been designed so that the students don't feel pressure of the academia.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes. The stipend depends on the company you get the internship from. The college doesn't have it's own internship program but they sure provide enough opportunities to join other companies. Regularly hosted coding sessions and hackathons provide gateway to joining big names such as Dell and HP.
Placement Experience :
The general trend of placement of this college is that most of Computer Science and IT students get placed with much ease. The placements for other engineering branches are much more competitive. Number of companies that come for other branches are also low and have requirements that students can barely satisfy.
College Events :
This is one area that this college excels in. Numerous events are hosted here, from concerts to keynote addresses. Also, students are allowed to go to other colleges to take part in their fests and numerous events. Some of the biggest names in the business have come here. We have hosted the Red bull your bus. Kenny Sebastian and Biswa Kalyan Rath have made use laugh. We have danced to the tunes of Shirley Setia.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
This is one of the premier colleges of India. So the fees for tuition is quite high for Indian citizens. But still, compared to other countries, the fees here seems like pocket change. I paid around 4 lac rupees for tuition and 5-6 lac for hostel service. Besides that, living expenses are also quite high if you don't eat at the mess as often.
Fees and Financial Aid :
The college runs several scholarships and also let's the student opt for scholarships not provided by the college. Most of it is merit based, though lower class citizens have reserved seats that make them likely to get in.
Campus Life :
This college has several different opportunities for the students to partake in. Starting with Labs, most of the subjects we are taught have a lab section that we need to pass separately. They provide us with the equipment and have staff trained to handle them. As for extra curricular activities, these are endless. There are various different student run clubs and organisations that almost everyday, organise something, anything. So if you're properly involved in the clubs, there will not a be a single boring day. As for sports, the college provides ample space and time to hone your skills whether it be football, or Cricket, or basketball or volleyball or anything you want. We also have cultural, sports and technical fests that provide for students general well being by keeping them involved.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel is one of the best I've ever seen. There are numerous eateries that spoil me for choices. The presence of these outlets are a big reason I don't eat at the mess and this results in high cost of living. The rooms have bathrooms built in them. We get provided with basic amenities but we can pimp or the room to our taste. There are sports arenas, tennis court, basketball court, badminton court, etc.
Alumni/Alumna :
If you're only considering how helpful they will be to Student, I would say that the alumnus doesn't help at all. The seniors are the real MVPs. They really do help out when needed. The seniors cater to most of the needs of the students and the student council handles all the complaints.
Exam Structure :
Exam structure is We have two unit tests, called sessionals. They are of twenty marks each. Then we have a final, end semester exam that is of 40 marks. The remainder of 20 marks come from the internal assessment of your overall academic performance.
Admission :
First, i had to fill an online form which then provided me with a reference number that is used for the whole admission process. Having filled the form, I was now to give their entrance exam. Each participant has three tries to crack the exam. Based on the performance, students are provided choices for the courses they are eligible to take. Admission is done on a first come first serve basis. You'd have to visit one of the college campuses to complete your registration with their offline registration process.
Faculty :
Since I haven't been in touch with the faculties of department other than computer science, I will not be able to tell how they are. But judging by my own faculties, they will be nothing less than. Each faculty members has at least a master degree. They are able to break down concepts to elementary level. They also understand is you're going through with something in your personal life and will be able to help out.
