My experience In VIT Chennai!

Dislikes

  • There's exams every month and more than 5 Digital assignments and Lab practise assessment tests and these seems to be over pressuring.
  • There are some faculties who do get on your nerves and sometimes seems to be very rude.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course curriculum is very different in the college and there's so much to talk about and understand about.. so there's a credit system in the college , for every course you take you are given a certain amount of credits for clearing the course say 3 credits for a fundamental science course. And at the end of 4 years the student should have a total of 161 credits to qualify for the degree. And there are nearly 1000+ courses that you can opt for and they give us the freedom to learn what ever we want and they also provide extra courses for us to improve skills in various fields.

Placement Experience :

At VIT Chennai, students become eligible for campus placements starting from their 6th semester, with placement training beginning in the 5th semester. Top companies or recruiters include Amazon, Microsoft, Deloitte, Cognizant, TCS, Infosys, Wipro, PayPal, Bosch, Accenture, and Intel, among others. In 2023, over 900 companies participated across VIT campuses, making more than 12,000 offers. The highest package offered was ?1.02 crore per annum by a global recruiter, while the average package for core placements ranged between ?6-7 LPA, with Super Dream offers exceeding ?25 LPA and Dream offers ranging from ?10-15 LPA. Around 90% of eligible students get placed, with profiles offered in software development, consulting, analytics, and core engineering. After completing the degree, students often pursue roles in top companies, higher studies, or entrepreneurial ventures.

Fees and Financial Aid :

The annual tuition fees is categorised into 5 categories. I got the Cat-1 fee of 198000 and for Cat-2 it will be around 298000, Cat-3 390000 and goes on. The admission is done through VITEEE entrance and the tuition fees is waived for toppers in the entrance exams. This is the only possible way into the college. I'm unaware about any scholarships.

Campus Life :

VIT Chennai offers a vibrant campus life with a perfect blend of academic and social experiences. After one enters the campus it becomes hard to miss the outside world, because the students get everything they'd want in the college, restaurants, movie streaming, sports streaming etc. The annual cultural festival, Vibrance, typically held in February, and the technical fest, TecnoVIT, conducted in September, bring students together for diverse events and competitions. The campus library is well-stocked with an extensive collection of books, e-journals, and digital resources, ensuring accessibility for research and academic

Hostel Facilities :

So the hostels are great but I wouldn't say it is worth the money they get from us. But the facilities are great, they provide 2 sharing, 4 sharing and 6 sharing non AC and AC rooms for which the feedback details is available on their website. They give you a cot a study table and a cupboard for you in the room also the toilets are clean all the time as there's house keeping who clean the toilets and rooms everyday on a regular basis. Theree are indoor games and also a few outdoor games in the hostel and they often stream hindi movies and live cricket matches. The whole hostel booking process was done online while paying the tuition fees.

Admission :

I applied for Amirta, SNU Noida, SNU Chennai and VIT Chennai and finnaly got into VIT chennai even after receiving the admission letter from SNU Noida and Amirta. Basically the reason for me to choose this college was because of the tremendously good reviews about the placement and after knowing how the curriculum of VIT is set, I made up my mind to choose VIT. Also I couldn't get into SNU Chennai and I don't know the reason really , I may have failed the interview.

Faculty :

The faculties are mostly doctorates, Phd holders from renowned colleges across the world. They are patient and always available to clarify your doubts and assist you in your work. For a semester we have 3 exams, CAT 1, CAT 2, FAT. The 2 CAT exams have 30 marks weightage and FAT have 40 marks weightage and the remaining 30 is for Assignments. Finally the marks are calculated on the basis of relative grading. The lab marks are Normal absolute grading. Relative grading is based on the class average.

Interview Experience :

No group discussions were held .. only written exam VITEEE was held and the portion for the exam was the same as the JEE portion. the exam is a bit easier that JEE examination and there's fee waiver for top 1000 students.

Night Life :

After a day of class we have a lot of places to gather around and spend time with out friends but just make sure your pocket is full????. JK. Latenight activities are very rare as students are mostly spending their nights in the library studying. But late night hostel Life is great as we have different sports inside our hostel both indoor and outdoor games. Also there are late night events but not all the time though. Like Garbha night event, overnight hackathon etc... it's really fun to participate in those events. There are gyms in every hostel blocks and other than that we also have a paid gym with more than a 100 equipments and machines. We can also consider swimming pool as an extra thing to spend time in. The shops in the campus closes at 9 PM which is also the intime for the boys hostel

Placement Experience:

this is where they lie the most , they claim to have placement records of 97% but in reality its just 10%. because of huge student crowd , placing everyone is one big task. the company that comes here for hiring are mostly startups and some lesser known company . branches like mechanical and EEE have it even more difficult time to get placement.the highest package of over college is of 16 lakhs .
