Course Curriculum Overview :
I heard that the curriculum for mechanical department is taught quite good here. So I chose this college. No idea how the curriculum will prepare is for future since I'm only a first year student. Frequency of exams is good. Also timing of exams is great. You get enough time to prepare for exams. Most of the papers are not that difficult.
Internships Opportunities :
Students get a number of interships in the college. Internship opportunities are available from the second year onwards. Students get to do internships in prestigeous colleges like Tezpur University, JEC, AEC,etc.
Placement Experience :
Students are eligible for placements from 5th semester. Various companies visit the campus each year. Since the college is specialised for petroleum engineering placement offers come from OIL, NRL, ONGC, BCPL,etc for the petroleum and mechanical branches. Various other companies and startups come for students from the CSE and ECE departments But the percentage of students getting placed is low as the top students from each branch are only allowed to sit in the placements drive. I plan to try for the campus placements. Of I don't make it then will attempt GATE. for mtech.
Fees and Financial Aid :
Admission fees- Rs 10,745(needs to be renewed each year) First sem to third sem fees- 50,000 per semester From fourth sem onwards- 40,000 per semester Various scholarship programs are available for underprivileged students for eg- scholarships found in NSP portal, etc Scholarships also available for girls. Financial assistance unto 70,000 rupees is provided
Campus Life :
Various festivels are held in almost every month. The Annual sports festival called the Vercity week is held on Feb. The main library is full of books and journals. Also our department has its own library for books from our courses only. Facilities are good in classrooms. Teachers take advantage of TVs and projectors for teaching. Various sports tournaments and competitions are held on a regular basis. Almost every sport of posted by the students here. Many social groups like NSS, IEEE, and the student run coding and robotics club is present here.
Hostel Facilities :
There are single and double rooms available. Double rooms are quite spacious for two students. I won't say the meal quality of good. But the food is edible. Not much variety in the meals. You need to contact the chief warden for details of resistration prices of hostels Hostel fees us quite affordable. 2000rs per month for me fees and 2900rs to be paid every six months
Admission :
I liked the place in which this college is located. Also I could not make it in time to counseling process for the other college since I was allotted a seat after I took since it was very far from here.
Faculty :
Faculty to students ratio on average is 1:45. Faculty is friendly and quite approachable. I never disliked any faculty. All of them are humble and friendly This time there was only one sessional exam for the Btech first years and the endsem. Exams are of the moderate level. Can be passed out studied on a regular basis. But still a handful of students fail each year.
Night Life :
There is a gym available which is open from 5am to 9pm There is a central library which is quite big. It is open from 9:30am to 9pm. There are five cafeterias open from morning to late evenings. The girls hostel and our first year hostel have in times at 9:30pm The main hangout spots are the big cafeteria called Josaag, the central library, the park and the campus market called DUHaat
