- I didn't like the security system in college. The guards were disrespectful and not very helpful.
- The parking space of students was not provided in college and we had to park on roads and uneven grounds in village surrounding CU.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I liked to pursue Law because of the power of lawyers anf respect they get. Lawyers help people who are wronged and get them perfect resolutions by representing them in the court of law.Chandigarh University provided a diverse and rigorous curriculum which would help us become good lawyers and be an asset to the community. The curriculum prepaers us very well for real world problems. We had MOOT Court classes every semester which gave a real experience into intricate workings of an real court. We were also helped in getting internships and we were made to fight cases amogst ourselves to be better prepared for real life urcumstances under guidance of our superiors. Our exams are held as 2 mid semester exams each placed at regular interval one at beginning and one nearing last and then are final exams and difficulty level is medium for all of them,
Internships Opportunities :
We get prestigious internships at chandigarh University like National and State Human Rights Comissions, CMO Lucknow, Parliament, Armed Forces Tribunal Chandigarh and many private law firms across India.
Placement Experience :
In our college student become elgible for placement from 9th semester onwards i.e the second last semester. Many law firms and private companies and banks visit our colege like HDFC bank,HCL and many private firms and offers range from 4LPA to 6LPA. The highest package offered in our department was of 21LPA and average package is 3.5-4LPA. About 50-60% students get campus placements and rest opt for private consultation on out of campus interviews for better oppurtunities. Otherwise CU give gives guarantee they can get 100% placemn=ent of they go through TPA i.e the placement department After getting the degree I aspire to join law firm in my own family and work under the.
Fees and Financial Aid :
The Fee Structure is as follows: Semester fee = 60000 Examination Fee = 2500 I got an scholarship for 1st year on basis of my board exam result of 50% on my semester fees. I paid 30000 semester fee along with 2500 examination fees for first two semesters. They provide scholarships based on merit in entrance exam i.e CUCET or on basis of percentage in board exams of 12th class.
Campus Life :
Our college was mainly famous for events and festivals ranging from Freshers to Cu Fest which were attended by many Actors and Singer and celebrities from all fields. The Freshers in the month of September and Cu Fest in November and April were the most most main ones. Our deparment recently got the best library in the University with world class infrastructure and accessibilty to thousands of books and you can also suggest books needed they would also be ordered and made available to students. The library would open from 8 in the morning to 6 in the evening. There were may grouos you could join like Social and Cultural Activities group, the Legal clinic and many more which made things very interesting and provided leisure from college studies.
Admission :
Actually being a non-med student at first I gavee JEE exam for admission to IITS and NITs but due to sever illness in 12th standard I could not crack it. So when I decided to opt for law I was late and I only applied to CU and got admitted. As for the admission process you need to give entrance like all other private universities, in this case CUCET conducted multiple time before start of the firstsemester.
Faculty :
The faculty system was somewhat good. The faculty to student ratio was like 1:12 for a particular department and were provided with mentors for each section. They were helpful and friendly. I like Avlin Maam who taught IPC and also Amanat Maam who taught Family Law in our department. They were very friendly and understanding. T I didn't like Amit Trehan Sir who Taught Economics and Operations Research. He always said if you pass, you get attendance and if you don't I'll make sure you don't sit in final exams. There are 2 MSTs and one final exam consisting of practicals and written examination of 60 marks. We got 40 Marks for internal.
Night Life :
There are many gyms near college but mistly in Kharar area. You can opt for cheapest gyms to expensive one with modern and imported machines. As for cafes there is no limit to them. The hostels were also quite neat and clean. They provied breakfast. lunch , evening snacks and dinner. Wednesdays were chicken days and most favourite of mine. You can go in and out of hostel between 5 AM and 9 PM and and rest time gates were closed for safety of students. Inside college we could hangout near A block which had decent food oultlets to international chains like Dominos and CCD.
