LNMIIT- The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

Dislikes

  • As my branch was relatively newer, there was a lack of a strong alumni base.
  • The course curriculum could have been more diverse, especially with regards to the core electives offered.
+ 2 More

Course Curriculum Overview :

1. Needed more diverse core subjects; 2. It was very theoretical; 3. A more practicla and experience based assignments would've been better; 4. Mid semester exams happened twp months after the new semester began with regular quizzzes; 5. The end semester exams happened in the last/penultimate month.

Internships Opportunities :

Amazon, Microsoft, Adobe, Gojek, Google, Innovacer, Uber, American Express, Oyo etc came. Mainly roles of software engineers aka SDE was offered, while business analyst, traineee, developer roles etc were also offered.

Placement Experience :

The students become eligible in the seventh semester i.e. the pre-final year of college. If they meet the eligibility criteria and have no backlogs left. Amazon, American Express, Adobe, Microsoft, etc visited 93.75% students placed. Highest package- 63.27 lakhs per annum. Average package- 11.72 lakhs per annum. My plans- Prepare for the Civil Services Exam.

Fees and Financial Aid :

This data is for 2016-2020: 1. 1st year: 2,96,038/- 2. 2nd year: 2,99,650/- 3. 3rd year: 3,03,650/- 4. 4th year: 3,37,240/- Tution Fee: 1,13,500/- per semester Enrollment Fee: 3,000/- per semester Building Fund: 3,000/- per semester Hostel Charges: 21,000/- per semester Electricity and Internet Charges: 6000/- per semester Mess establishment: 1000/- per semester Mess Charges: 17,000/- per semester Alumni Fee: 2,000/- per semester (Applicable from final year) Student Activities Charges: 1,500/- per semester Group Medical Insurance Charge: 620/- per semester

Campus Life :

Plinth- techfest; Vivacity- cultural fest; Desportivos- sports fest. All happen in the month of January or February. A wide range of books and journals were available, both offline and online. Sports- Cricket and Football ground, badminton and basketball courts, table tennis, tennis court and squash court. Many clubs like Nukkad, Robotics, Quiz, Photography, etc.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel room had a bed, one almirah and table for each student with a single fan in the room. Since it had a centralised AC duct system, it used to be pretty active in the summers. The food was fairly average. Hostel was mostly compulsory for everyone, but there was an option of being a day-scholar.

Admission :

I chose LNMIIT becuase it offered me my desired branch, was nearer to my hometown of Bareilly and had the hostel included. During my time, I had confirmed admissions from MIT Pune as I had appeared for the MHT-CET in 2016 and also had a sub 1500 rank in the COMEDK-2016. Due to proximity of location, I chose LNMIIT.

Faculty :

Total students: 60. Total faculty members: 10 (from 2016-2020) So, the ratio was 1:6. The faculties were friendly and easy to approach, even after the classes. I liked Dr. Sandesh Chougule and Dr. Manoj Kumar the most as they were very helpful, always offered to make the subejcts easier for everyone. Dr. Sandesh, Dr. Manoj and Dr. Vikram and Ashok Dagar were the best faculties around. The exams were of moderate difficulty. Some students were failed regularly at times.

Night Life :

Gym was available in the SAC aka Student Activity Centre, libray used to open till midnight during end semester exams. Hostel in-time was 11 PM and campus in-time was 10 PM. There was a college canteen, which had many food options as well a laundry shop to take care of all needs.

Placement Experience:

The placements are good and they are the one thing students search the most before choosing their college. My college placement for all branches are going well and along. Companies like BNY melon , Samsung , Microsoft etc come for placement about 200 offers are made this year so far. Around 70% students get placed every year. Also for off campus placement you will need skills and all but your curriculum is also good enough to get you placed
