VIT Fresher review

Dislikes

  • Faculty is very bad. even for first year their negligency fears us.
  • Crowded class rooms and old buildings. Infra for old buildings is very bad

Course Curriculum Overview :

Based on current day trend and future scope my elders and some expert friends of my parents suggested me to choose AIML. Compared to other colleges here I have multiple options in my syllabus. We have FFCS named fully flexible credit system. we have to gain specified credits within 4 years. those can be gained by our curriculum and non curriculum too. maybe from 2nd and 3rd sem my real curriculum of AIML starts Faculty is very bad so we have to prepare everything for ourselves using youtube and learn skills. Exam frequency is kind of hectic we will be having exams continuously. in 4 months span of sem we will have around 3 exams of each subject and also assignments additionally

Internships Opportunities :

texas, adobe ,dell , amazon, ebay, GE etc come here. VIT alumni and professionals train us for internships Projects and roles are based on our qualifications and talent Many leading MNCS participate in this mega event

Placement Experience :

From the end of 5th sem or starting of 6th sem we would get placements and openings. around 991 companies come to VIT and around 3k students got placed. Highest package was 59LPA. Average package was 9lpa. Highest package was offered by Krypto,Texas, Microsoft,Adobe etc Here placements and offers are categorised as Dream offers, super dream offers,Regular offers and unique offers. Placement percentage is 90% of students who are eligible for placements for particular companies. I think of getting good offer and after some years i will plan to go towards UPSE

Fees and Financial Aid :

After securing rank of 15000 odd in VITEEE exam I was asked to choose between vellore campus and chennai campus for AIML course. For chennai campus I got category 2 But for vellore campus i would have got category 3 which is 1 lakh more in fees. I chose Chennai campus. here fees structure is based on rank of VITEEE exam and also our couselling results. we should be alert while doing counselling and make sure we get the course we selected for our rank under particular category. I will be paying 3 lakhs per year for 4 years years course. Here we dont have any kind of reservation all it matters is rank of VITEEE. They say there are also scams in this Exam and they sell seats privately. But we cant question them because it is private college. Fee structure of category 1 is 2 lakhs for category 2 is 3 lakhs for category 3 is 4 lakhs and for category 4 it is 4.5 lakhs for category 5 it is 5 lakhs. You can avail loan from banks for education. I dont think there are any scholarship for these private colleges

Campus Life :

Technical fest is named as TechnoVIT and annual fest is named as Vibrance. TechnoVIT is conducted in September while Vibrance is conducted in february. Library is to class with every source like google. also Library infra and ambience is top class.Old buildings has bad infra but new buildings are good digital sources are available in every class. You can avail any equipmen you wan for you projects or learning. Good number of grounds and seperate griunds for Lawn tennis, basket ball etc good sport and extra curricular activities are offered here. there are lots of cultural and technical clubs in campus. you can register to any club u want and be member of it. No end and rest for events. every week there would be atleast one event from any club. good stress busters and gain some pleasure and social senses.

Hostel Facilities :

Hostel facility is the worst thing about VIT. Hosel fee is like 5 star but facilities are like local and cheap hotels. we have 2 common washrooms for 33 rooms in the floor. I already live in 6 bedded room still it is expensive and worst thing is 6 bedded room is so crowded. without AC its difficult to survive in Chennai but they turn on AC for only 12 hours. Non AC rooms are maybe affordable but it is not recommended in Chennai. its actually recommended to stay in PG nearby which is affordable. Mess is good with good and quality food and various kinds of food but again its too expensive. also taste is not that good. Hostel registration is also done online in their website

Admission :

apart from JEE I applied for BITSAT exam. In Jee I secured 94 percentile and with EWS I could have got NIT. Also got good rank in KCET but I learnt that VIT is better than all KCET colleges so i didnt even apply for KCET counselling. BITS wasnt an option for me because of its fancy fees system. My sister studies in VIT vellore branch doing Integrated M.Tech course of 5 years so I learnt about VIT. The main reason I joined vit was for placements. Good amount of placements and opportunities are offered from VIT. We have to write VITEEE exam based on our rank we will be allowed to participate in counselling. cut off depends on category and course and also campus. first preference for any student would be Vellore campus. But we have to get rank below 2000 for category 1 of my course. No other exams are accepted here apart from VITEEE. total cut off for CSE and specialization courses for vellore branch would be around rank of 30k for category 5 and for Chennai branch it would be 50k rank.

Faculty :

Faculty strength in numbers is high. But they rarely care students. They doesnt teach properly. I mean after being spoonfed in 12th it kind of feels like we are left for air. Many professors just share some PPTs and in class too they just read that PPT. as of 1st sem I dont like anybody . Not particularly one but everyone are almost same bad here. Exam system is kind off hectic. There are 2 internals named CATs and 15 percentage from each will be considered for final. 40 ercentage will be considered from final exam named FAT. remaining 40 percent will be internals assignments and other stuff. There is relative grading system in VIT. Since it is 1st sem all courses have same syllabus.

Night Life :

Gyms are closed by 7 PM Library is closed by 12AM and public visiting is closed by 6PM Boys should be inside hostel within 9PM while girls withn 8PM There's nothing much around This campus but there is one store kind of supermarket for daily holds of students and snacks. there are many cafeterias in the campus including dominos inside campus. Since it is big city it is not recommended to roam around at night outside campus but its completely safe inside campus

Other Applied Colleges

BITS Pilani (Pilani Campus) | Bachelor of Engineering [BE] (Computer Science)

fees is high

Vlsi design course was recommended to me by my uncle.. my knowledge about this course is very simple its about chips and circuit designing. Course should more focus on the dsd and semiconductors subject rather than maths, physics from 2year

this is where they lie the most , they claim to have placement records of 97% but in reality its just 10%. because of huge student crowd , placing everyone is one big task. the company that comes here for hiring are mostly startups and some lesser known company . branches like mechanical and EEE have it even more difficult time to get placement.the highest package of over college is of 16 lakhs .
