- Rigourus Schedule. Each semester consists of 3 different tests (2 cats and 1 fat). this along with 3 assignments and quiz for every subject every semister.
- Teachers have communication problem. Some of the teachers are partial.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course is quite relevent. There are also options of choosing courses with more inepth knowledge for people who want to take up a specific stream. Curriculum as a whole does not prepare you much for the real world applications but definately makes your base strong if you follow and learn riligiously. Teaching should be more free and more time should be given per topic. Less DAs and more practical video based learning is the way forward. Exams as metioned previously take place 3 times a semister (2-50 mark papers and 1-100 marker). exams are mostly modertely difficult with some being quite difficult
Internships Opportunities :
The internship opportunities are similar to the placement opportunities. Almost all major companies visits the campus and provides wide variety of internships and opportunities. Summer internship after the 4th or 6th semester though has to be arranged by self.
Placement Experience :
Placements are provided in VIT Vellore. InFact the college has one of the widest number of recruiters visiting the campus offering placements as compared to its competitors. The Average CS package is 9.9 lakh and Average package for ECE and EEE is around 6 Lakh. Companies that Visited include IBM, TCS, Accenture, Cognizent, Black Rock, Delloitte, PWC, KPMG, EY, Bain and Co., Bosch, Schnieder, Cisco, Apple, Mu Sigma, Genpact, SAP, Oracle and many more. (Total 820 companies have visited and 10000 plus offers have been made) Highest Package: 80 Lakh Average CTC:9.9 Lakh Percentage of Students placed: 85 to 90% (Vellore Campus only)
Fees and Financial Aid :
I was in VIT Vellore in ECE. I was selected in 3rd Category and hence the annual fees was 3.95 Lakh (395000) Rupees. This price is inclusive of everything (tution fees, caution fees, redistration fees, lab fees etc). However fees for 1st category was 1.98 lakh rs per annum and second category was 2.95 lakh rs per annum. The fees for the 4th and 5th category are 450000 and 500000 rs per annum respectively. The Category selection is purely merit based and depends on your rank. The price for the categories remain same for all BTech courses in VIT. Scolarships are provided (including removal of complete tution fees for top 5 students of every course The fees have remained constant since the last 4 to 5 years and have not been increased even for the 2024 batch students. I dont have much info of any other degrees other than BTech like Bsc / Msc etc but the prices are lower than Btech. Overall the total fees of a student can range from 2 lakh to 5 lakh per year (All incclusive irr of branch)
Campus Life :
2 Fests take place in VIT Vellore every year: Riviera (Cultural Fest) around February end every year (one of the top 15 college cultural fests in India) and Gravitas (Tech fest) around September every year The library of VIT Vellore is quite large. It consists of 4 floors and multiple copies of the same book is available. all kind of books are available. VIT also provides EBook access for books not in stock. Facilities in CLassroom are very basic. Each class has a projector, smart board and chairs and table with sufficeient space to fit around 50 to 60 students at a time. A Variety of sports facilities are available for students including Swimming pool, indoor badminton, tennis, basketball, football and gym (some of these are paid @2000 rs per semister) There are 1000 plus clubs and chapters where one can apply and learn
Hostel Facilities :
The Hostel facility is quite nice. Rooms are cramped though with less space. This is because VIT likes to stuff more students. But other than that the rooms have AC, 24*7 Electricity, Beds, Table, shelf, personal lamp and a small cupboard. The washrooms are decent and clean. We have suply of both cold and hot water. we have option of chota dhobi to clean our cloths and we dont need to. The mess is of 3 types: Veg, NonVeg, Special. Mostly the food is the best in India. VIT Vellore's food can be compared with most IITs. All the food are well balanced and dishes are clean and hygenic. Hostel charges range from anywhere between 40k to 1 lakh per year. Mess and other sevices are charged around 50k per year
Admission :
I applied for MIT and Thappar too. I got selection from both but i was getting EEE in MIT and Chemical Engineering in Thapar. Considering VIT (Vellore Campus) is of the same level as the rest 2 mentioned colleges, i went for VIT considering I got ECE in it. Admissions to our college can tak place via an exam called VITEEE. Cutoff for vellore campus was 40000 (CSE in 10000)
Faculty :
The faculty to student ratio is 1:20. Some of the best faculties i met in college are: Dr Sumit Jindhal, Dr Avinash Chandra, Dr Noor Mohammed V, Dr Rajesh Kumar M and Dr Nandakumar S. All of the above had a pasion for teaching and made learning fun. Some of the worst faculties i met in college are: Dr Kalaivani S, Dr Hariharan S, Dr Poonkunzhali. Though they knew their subjects well they didnt know how to teach and would read out concepts like a book. Exams depends on who sets them. They are of moderate level with some of them being hard. each semister has 3 exams per subject (2 CATS for 50 marks and FAT for 100 marks). Though if you have studied and attempted you will not fail but failing is a common thing and almost everyone fails atleast one subject during the 4 years of BTECH in VIT Vellore
