Union strikes sometimes makes a bad note else I will say it is a great center for learning managements does not play tight role with studies so hardly it matters.
Entrance Preview :
CUSAT-CAT consists of written exam (two papers Maths | Science). Admission is based on rank wise. First ever campus with Information technology in India.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course structure are well structured with practical sessions and followed with projects, seminars, presentations, war-rooms. with the course structure there is always a room for research. Professors are easily accessible and highly cooperative and motivates in writing research papers.
Internships Opportunities :
But we easily get internships in PSU's, DRDO, DMRC, some big IT giants, IIT institutions etc. Stipends depends on organisations. Experience is 3 years or final semester.
Placement Experience :
IT placement is overall great with 150+% with maximum package ~12Lpa average package ~3.5-4 Lpa. Core branches takes GATE and opt for PSU. However placement is neither good nor bad. Safety and Fire stream placements offers upto 13-16Lpa max and average is 6+LPA even if you have backlogs. Ship Technology has very high offers includes foreign placements and avg package is ~15LPA(India). Photonics too has great foreign placements or study offers.
College Events :
Technical fest: Xplendor, the Techno-Cultural fest, Cultural Fest: Vipanchika [Vipanchika blends a series of fine-arts, socio-cultural and literary events, along with a variety of workshops, exhibitions and informal events. Other than this we have annual sports meet [50+ colleges participates] onam events etc.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
Feasible, In-fact very low compared to other colleges fees are very low, and hostel and accommodation fees is only <500 a month. College fee: ~20000 per semester for general, 12000 per semester for general Kerala students and less than 1000 per semester for reserved category.
Fees and Financial Aid :
Scholarship are available from state government as per India govt norms loan are easily available from banks. However for loans and scholarships have to be applied by self. No loan counters available at campus.
Campus Life :
Campus life is great with green nature surrounded with fresh airs, trees, flowers. The most I enjoyed is rain. Gender ration overall good but in few branches it is zero (like mechanical, marine, ship tech, safety and fire). Diversity, there is always a room to expand extracurricular, labs, sports, competitions such as robotics, debates etc all are maintained and I say they keep us motivated and engaged.
Hostel Facilities :
Hostel rooms are not as per world class if you compare with other colleges rooms are very simple with 24X7 electricity facilities. Rooms and mess is well maintained and cleanness maintained. Hostel includes a large open area with badminton, table tennis, volley-ball , badminton courts with night flood lights.
Alumni/Alumna :
Alumni network is very strong. They can be found on linked and we use linked to meet our seniors any time and they are available to respond.
Exam Structure :
Yes Exams and labs are very frequent. Its hectic in early semesters but after we enjoy as it goes too smooth and we enjoy and we keep energetic for next days labs and exams. Classroom exams (other than mid / end semesters) sometimes makes us exhausted.
Faculty :
Faculty are well qualified and keen interested in taking to topic to the depth of subject. They make the topic interesting which lets students too to dive into the subject depth. Faculty are easily accessible, highly cooperative and motivates in writing research papers.
