Government college of engineering aurangabad insights

Dislikes

  • Not all teachers are supporting, since it is a autonomous institute all the power is in professor's hands
  • Most of the staff is very unqualified for the job of teaching but some are very good and have PHDs

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course I have opted for is Electronics and Telecommunication since I want to go for higher education in semiconductor chips and quantum computing. Our curriculum follow NEP which is the new education policy, and is very good curriculum that gives a broad vision and knowledge about multiple subjects apart from core engineering and broadens your interests and skills simultaneously. But as I said the teachers are not well adapted for teaching that syllabus. Some teachers are really brilliant though which is the only reason I took interest on this college.

Placement Experience :

The campus placements are pretty average is our college the highest package for previous year was 15LPA and most of the students were around 5-7 LPA range. This above statistics is of campus placement. Off campus data is not available in college. Percentage of placement is 70-90% depending on the branch. Entc is the most placed branch in geca, following CS, IT, electrical and then mechanical and civil

Fees and Financial Aid :

Since this is a government college the scholarship schemes and relaxation on fees is expected, there are a lot of scholarships available for students like the Siemens scholarship, our college also offers AAGECA scholarship and reliance scholarship.

Campus Life :

Our college has 2 major feasts called antarang (march-april) which is the cutural feast and wiings (jan-feb) which is teachinal fest. Sports like badminton and chess and table tennis, cricket, football, basketball are common in our college. Other niche sports like volleyball, handball are not very complimented. We have a lot of clubs for social activities and technicalities. Our technical clubs have respectable achivements in their field. Our cybrotics clubs got AIR-4 in robocon competition and teams aryans got AIR-1 in baja saeindia

Admission :

I took admission during the spot round after CET round 3, which was held in the college. I had scored 93.38% percentile in CET examination and the cutoff of round 3 was 93.8% so it was not that big of a difference. The cutoff for spot round in entc branch for general category was 92% percentile. Since geca is college under state government it only accepts CET scores and CET counselling is the only way of admission here.

Faculty :

In the classroom the student to teacher ratio is 70:1 the classroom only has enough space to fill all 70, no extra benches are present. But during practicals the ratio is 30:1 so teachers have a good eye on students during practicals. Most of the practicals are just taught by teachers for the sake of completion of practical books. The teachers are approachable and will try to help you with the problem but they are not really that smart enough to answer your doubts, so self-study is your only hope in this college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The Course Structure at SLRTCE is well structured and covering core electronics and computer science concepts, but it could include more industry oriented skills and emerging technology. It provides good foundation for real world applications and higher studies exams held twice per semester and updates to the curriculum and interactive teaching methods would further improve it's relevance and effectiveness.

Campus placement are good but you should be skilled in your domain. Opportunity are provided to everyone. If not placed off campus is also good to go. But extra effort you have to put in there to get placed.
