- Campus is very big and full of greenery.
- Hostels are well maintained. Campus is very clean.
Dislikes
- Non teaching faculty might not understand English. They will ask you to speak in Tamil
- Some mess are not good. Good mess might be in a different hostel block so we will have to travel there for meals
Course Curriculum Overview :
The teachers are very knowledgeable on the topics they teach. They might even help to score internships and help in projects and research works. Industrial Visits are conducted to show us how everything works in the real world. It would be better if the number of quiz/assignments were standardized to all courses instead of letting the faculty decide. The exams are conducted after 5 weeks of classes each.
Placement Experience :
6th semester placements are opened. Various companies come for placements. Highest offer was 1cr per annum and average is around 8-9 lpa. Most of the students get placed (about 80%). I plan on pursuing my masters after my UG degree
Fees and Financial Aid :
Tuition fee depends on the student's performance in the entrance test. It ranges from 1.5 lpa to 5.5 lpa. This is only tuition fee and does not include hostels. Hostels can cost anything from 1lpa to 3lpa depending on the type of room and the mess type. Campus placements are conducted every year and the average package keeps increasing every year which is nice
Campus Life :
Technical Fest Gravitas and cultural fest Riviera are conducted yearly. Additionally technical weeks like yantra are conducted. Gravitas held in September and Riviera held in February - March. All kinds of books are available in the library but quantity might be less. The books recommended are almost never available. Classes have projectors. Sports weeks are conducted where competitions of many sports like volleyball, cricket, kabaddi, badminton etc are conducted. There are around 200 clubs in VIT most of which are student run. This provides a means to learn and interact with seniors and other like minded people.
Hostel Facilities :
Rooms may or may not have sir conditioning depending on the type. There are many mess companies. Each hostel block has a different mess. Some are very nice but some are not so nice. There is option to switch which is helpful. Hostel for first year is registered online after the admission process but for later years it depends on the student's academic performance. The student's are allotted a rank based on their CGPA which decides when they appear for the registration process to take a room. We can select our roommates.
Admission :
Eligibility was to complete 12th with 75+% in boards. All details of application and registration are available on VIT's admission portal and their official website. Only one exam is conducted of 2.5 hours. It was much easier compared to JEE mains. It's level is comparable to any State-conducted CET exams. Most of us faced lag and glitches while writing the computer-based test. Across all states this problem was witnessed. This is the only problem. As exam is not that difficult one can easily score well if there is no lag.
