My experience in VIT Chennai

Dislikes

  • The rules are very strict and gaurds are also strict.
  • Back checking is done always which is quite infuriating.

Course Curriculum Overview :

My course is mechatronics and automatiom. The curriculum includes electronics, mechanics and even computer science, it is a mix of multiple courses which is why I chose the course. The course focuses on basic mechanics and electeonics along with new technologies in the elective courses. The exams happen 3 times, assessment 1,2 and final assessment. The final assessment in comparatively harder than the other 2.

Internships Opportunities :

Bellore Institute of technology promises all it's students placemenrs in established MNCs and start ups. Companies like intel, ebay, Amazon, dell, GE, Texas Instruments, TCS, Cognizant actively take part in the placement.

Placement Experience :

Students are eligible for campus placements from 3rd year. The highest package is 59 LPA and the average package is 8LPA. 80 to 90 percent students are placed, some go for higher education. My plan after the degree is to get a job for 2years and then go for masters.

Fees and Financial Aid :

The category fee always remains constant for all the students. VIT offers 100%, 75%, 50% and 25% scholarship to students according to their performance in State boards and VITEEE exam. The scholarship is applicable for all four years. It will change according to your performance in every year. The complete cost of my education is 400000 for 1 year.

Campus Life :

Rhe capus is full of activities all the time. There are multiple events happening all over the campus. The two main fests are technoVIT and Vibrance. TechnoVIT is a technical fest where all technical clubs have events going on and Vibrance is a cultural fest where artist come to the campus to perform. The library is very good, they have all kinds of books. Phones are allowed in class but isage of phone is not recommended.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel rooms are good, 4 bunk beds and 4 cupboards with 4 desks and shelves. The mess food is not so good, we have a fest once a month and that time the mess food is great. The hostel fees depends on the kind of room, for a 4bed it is 200000.

Admission :

The eligibility of the course is to have a good rank under 30000 in the entrance test. The application related details are available in the website www.vit.ac.in. There are no reservation benefits for general category students. The entrance exam is of 1hr and happens twice. The exam is moderate, the main problem in the exam is time as we have 1hr for 120. Improvement is possible in the seat allotment process.

Placement Experience:

this is where they lie the most , they claim to have placement records of 97% but in reality its just 10%. because of huge student crowd , placing everyone is one big task. the company that comes here for hiring are mostly startups and some lesser known company . branches like mechanical and EEE have it even more difficult time to get placement.the highest package of over college is of 16 lakhs .
