VIT Chennai: A guide to our colleg

Dislikes

  • I dislike the strict adherance to attendance policies and in time for hostellers
  • I dislike the fact that they frown upon boys and girls sitting and having a chat with each other.

Course Curriculum Overview :

I always had a keen interest in the mechanics of things, and how they work. Introducing the application of electronics, automation and robotics, made it a no brainer for me to take up the course. There are about 210 students in my batch, and approximately 45 teachers to teach the course. All the faculties are vastly experienced and helpful if teaching, and explaining the course. The duration between each exams were comparatively lesser when compared to other top universities, but they were relatively easy to write and score in.

Internships Opportunities :

The college offers the oppurtunity to do internships in the final and pre final years with various private companies, such as Ethnus and AWS, with an average stipend of 10K. The students are albe to work in real time offices and gain vast knowldge and experiences, and also get PIP's.

Placement Experience :

VIT boasts itself when it comes to placements. Students start getting offers form companies around the 6th semester. Companies like TATA, Mahindra, Cognizant, among many other, come to our college for recruitements. Since I do not the exact figures with me, I refuse to make claims about the highest and average packages offered. The college promises a 100% placement record. I although, plan to not sit for placements, and want to persure higher studies.

Fees and Financial Aid :

The course fees remains the same for each year, irrespective of the course taken. no increase or hike in it. I pay 195000 per year. I have no idea about Scholarships of financial assistance that the college provides.

Campus Life :

We have a technical and cultural fest each year, named TechnoVIT and Vibrance, respectively. We also have a massive, state of the art library, that has loads of books, magazines and journals, pertaining to availability. The classrooms have basic facilities like fans, tubelights and projectors. The commitment to sports though, is not as strong as academics. But the college appreciates, and supports various other extra curricular activities like clubs, and events.

Hostel Facilities :

The rooms have working tubelights, fans and A/C's (depending on the type of room taken), and comfortable cots. The food is tasty and nutritious and well, and is quite within affordable budget. The application process for hostel is quite easy, and is a relatively easy process. The hostel rates are also reasonable.

Admission :

B.Tech Mechatronics and Automation is my course. It is a very interesting course, and is moderate in difficulty. The necessary application forms and details about fees and application dates will be released in due time by the college. Reservation details will be mentioned in the application form as well. It was a rather simple and easy process, and was relatively smooth to apply for.

this is where they lie the most , they claim to have placement records of 97% but in reality its just 10%. because of huge student crowd , placing everyone is one big task. the company that comes here for hiring are mostly startups and some lesser known company . branches like mechanical and EEE have it even more difficult time to get placement.the highest package of over college is of 16 lakhs .
