Remarks :
Step 1 - appear for JEE mains exam after the 12th, you are eligible for the exam if you have taken Physics, Chemistry, and Maths as your major subjects. Jee mains is conducted by NTA every year multiple times, so students will get more than 1 opportunity to score good marks in JEE mains and get a good college. The entrance test consists of questions from Physics Chemistry and Math, mostly MCQ, and a few written types ( format of paper keeps changing, check online once ). The application form will be found on the NTA site, and fees are different for different categories. If you have a category, then you will have 2 ranks. One will be all India rank and the second will be your category rank. When you apply for your quota you will be tried to allot seats according to your category rank. If you are not allotted a seat with the help of your category rank then your all India rank will be considered.
Course Curriculum Overview :
IIIT SURAT has only computer science and electronics and communication. I choose this course because my rank was not enough for CS. Faculty are ok.. not too good because they are mostly on contract and there are very few permanent faculty. There are almost only 50-60 students in one branch so student-faculty interaction is good. Permanent faculty are all Ph.D. degree holders compulsorily and their teaching methods are nothing new. They just come in lectures, teach little and leave. They don't care much if the student is studying or not. There will mid sem exams of 30 marks and end sem exams of 50 marks plus 2 Internal quizzes, which will make the total 100 marks accordingly you will get your semester CGPA. Practicals are of 50 marks, 25 Internal and 25 external (exam ). Practicals are easy but mid/end sem exams are a little rough as the curriculum is tough but if you study 2 days before the exam you will easily score around 8 CGPA and believe it is a good result.
Internships Opportunities :
There are very less internship opportunities in college. Only 3-4 company visits and a handful of students get an on-campus internship. Most of us apply off-campus for internships and that is tough to get in. If students don't get intern they do a few projects to add up to their CV so that it looks impressive.
Placement Experience :
We are developing college so placements stats are not that good but since there are very less students almost max of us get placed with an average package of 8-10 lakes. From the end of the 6th semester, students get eligible for placement and companies start coming. Companies like Deloitte, Infosys, Microsoft, Accenture, etc visit the college so there are good chances of placement plus students apply off-campus too. Almost 60-70% of students eligible for placement get placed and that's a good stat for a new college. You can check the placement stats in college sit in detail. I will be also trying to get placed for the campus itself.
Fees and Financial Aid :
Semester fees are 69000, which consist of tuition fees and library fees. You have to pay an extra 32000 per sem for the hostel and mess facility. NOTE - hostel and mess fees may vary since we rely on different campuses as we don't have our campus. Sem fees usually hike by 10-15 % for a new batch, but they will remain constant throughout your 4-year course. College does not provide any scholarships but you can avail yourself scholarships of your state as IIIT SURAT is a government college and college of national importance.
Campus Life :
Our temporary campus was SVNIT, so life was pretty good there. We are allowed in their fests like Sparsh and mindbending. They are mostly conducted around April / May. We as IIIT surat have started our clubs but still haven't organized our cultural fest. The library on the campus was pretty huge and awesome and fully air-conditioned and you will get all the books of your requirement. The classroom is not too good. We have projectors in every class but few fans are not working and no AC, which will make studying in that classroom in summer feel like hell. Almost all sports activities are available except swimming on the shared campus and we are allowed in all the sports. There are too many clubs for extracurricular activities for dancing, singing, drama, photography, poetry, language, robotics, entrepreneurship, coding, etc. Clubs pages are handled on Instagram and Facebook by students. Insta Id's are Saras. iiitsurat last. iiitsurat exposure. iiitsurat ecell_iiits
Hostel Facilities :
Rooms are in accommodation for 2 in SVNIT (mentor institute ) and we're okay in size and adjustable .every year you have to shift to a new hostel. Food is usually good but may differ in quality if the mess is changed but it's mostly good. Don't expect non-veg. You only get an egg once a week for dinner. Hostels are very affordable since they are government hostels, they cost only 64000 per year including room and mess. That is only almost 5000 a month. If you go for PG outside the campus starting price of accommodation is 6000 plus mess is extra that will cost around 10000-12000 a month.
