Remarks :
See I applied for other colleges too. Like KIIT(Bhubaneswar), Manipal University(Jaipur) but I didn't attend them because of high fees. Also at the time of admission, my grandmother was ill so definitely, I had to stay close to my hometown. I didn't get admission to BIT Mesra only because of my score. But ultimately I came to know about BIT Mesra off-campus colleges under its purview. Finally, I applied there and got admitted to the ECE branch. There were no such minimum criteria maybe it went as low as JEE Main Rank100000. The admission process was smooth. Counseling was also fine. Verification of documents and payment of fees were done simultaneously.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I was interested in this field and considered the future scope as computer science is about to saturate. Faculty: student ratio was entirely wrong. Few faculty members have already left the institute to join others. And few achieved superannuation. Talking about the qualification of faculty - not everyone had a Ph.D. degree. But that must be a requirement. Good institutions always prefer doctorate professors only. The teaching method was also quite orthodox. New teaching methods were not incorporated. But I must say exams were conducted on time. No delay whatever be the case. And yeah the exams were difficult but not even that much.
Placement Experience :
Students become placement-ready from the seventh semester. Before that, they have to register in the placement portal. Now, based on CGPA or percentage or marks, they are shortlisted for companies. Given they have written for them. But what happened during our times very few companies visited on campus. Mostly the companies went to the BIT Mesra campus, and we were left out. Later 2 or 3 companies visited, but that too, for CS students. 1) ZS Associates India Pvt Ltd - 2(placed)(CS) 2) Ericson - 2 CS and 1 IT 3) Reliance Jio - 2 Cs and 2 ECE The placements in companies like Infosys, Cognizant, Wipro, TCS were through off-campus placements. Also few other companies like Amadeus, Amdocs, Oracle hired only CS students. Apart from CS and ECE mostly the placements were grim for other branches.
Fees and Financial Aid :
Cost to study I would say is high given it is a private institution. But, of course, the fees hike policy is okay. Now, why am I saying this because the yearly fee hike was not much but that should also below . The scholarship is only available to those who scored very good CGPA above 8.5 in the previous semester. Else no such financial assistance.
Campus Life :
"Technika" which is an annual techno-management fest is conducted every year. But to organize it the college management released very little funds. As a result, the craze and enthusiasm started waning. The library doesn't have so many books the collection is limited to the courses only. Also, journals are there but there is a need to have more journals. Next talking about the classroom amenities yeah there is the availability of chalks and dusters. The seats are fine but they are not equipped with smart classrooms. Yeah but sports activities were conducted regularly and extracurricular activities were also taken care of. Though Facebook groups are there but not that active. Even clubs are also not active throughout the year which should be.
Hostel Facilities :
The hostel rooms are small-sized, single seated. But not all rooms are well-ventilated. The rooms are well lit and the fan is working. The room has a LAN connection but the net speed is quite slow. The meal quality is good just like what we have in our homes. A balanced diet with little or no spices. Also to mention that there is no registration policy. The only thing is you have to pay the fees.
Other Applied Colleges
Manipal University Jaipur | Electronics and Communication Engineering
Due to its exorbitantly high fees and also quite distant from my hometown
