Remarks :
After my 12th, I applied for 2 colleges at Guwahati, Assam. First of all, I chose Guwahati because it is the closest city good for education to my home. So I applied for Gauhati commerce college and K.C. Das commerce college as I wanted to pursue B.com honours and these two colleges were the best for the course. My name for GCC came under the first merit list only, so I applied for admission there without waiting for any further opportunities. GCC is known to be the best college for commerce in Assam and due to covid and lock down all the admission process and counselling sessions were carried online.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I enrolled myself for the course of B.com Hons. Total no. Of students in the 1st semester were around 700. And faculties in the institution are around 100. When you study under GCC, you won't feel like you're studying in a college. It feels like school only. The faculties are attentive and focus on each and every student tries their best to clear the doubts. Well, to talk about the examination process, we had to face issues because we are running late when it comes to exams and promotion to the next semester. Well, I won't consider this as a fault of the college because it has to follow the guidelines issued by Gauhati University. So whatever notice the university issues, the college will have to follow the same. Same with the questions for the examinations, their level of difficulty lies completely in the hands of the university. Although the 1st Semester papers were quite easy.
Fees and Financial Aid :
The Assam state government issued a notice regarding University education, where they stated that in the year 2020, students getting enrolled for their college education will have to pay no money for their education, in other words, the fee was waived by the government. Also, the college doesn't provide scholarships on its own but has the provisions of accepting the scholarships issued by the government of Assam.
Campus Life :
Well, the campus life is normal, nothing extraordinary is there. Although there are lots of clubs inside the college like literature club, sports club and all. But I've been there for the last 1 year, and I haven't seen any active participation regarding extracurricular. Although it might be possible that due to covid, all the activities were postponed.
