Mrithunjayan's Review On The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University, School Of Excellence In Law [SOEL], Chennai

Entrance Preview :

There is no such entrance exam for this university , all that matters is your +2 board marks. The cut-off to this university is relatively higher for OC - it's 98℅, BC - 96℅ , SC-88℅ . I come under BC category and I scored 92.8 ℅to get into this institution.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The curriculum is comprehensive enough to cover various fields of law . Since law is a diversified subject , this university offers a wide range of study material with a practical touch. Apart from this there are various extracurricular activities offered by the university to hone your advocacy skills. Example -moot court, youth parliament , seminars , workshops etc.

Internships Opportunities :

Our college doesn't provide internship. However it encourages students for internships . The timing of our college is framed in such a way that students can intern after college hours.

Placement Experience :

So far as placements and jobs . There are only few companies and firms which come for placement . As our college doesn't have a policy for campus placement , there are not many takes from our campus. However a student can enrol and practice in a law firm if he wishes to or he can pursue his higher studies there in this college itself .

College Events :

College celebrated Fresher's day, Annual sports meet, Annual cultural fest, Ramamani moot court competition, Pro bono eniviro moot court competition, Seminars and workshops arranged by NGT and various govt depts.

Fee Structure And Facilities :

The fee structure is feasible for students falling under general category . It amounts to just 65k per year . However for students admitted to NRI category amount to 3 lakh per annum. Our college offers scholarship to students of SC category and first graduate category. Further people who fall below poverty line or creamy layer are considered for scholarship.

Fees and Financial Aid :

Our college offers scholarship to students of sc category and first graduate category. Further people who fall below poverty line or creamy layer are considered for scholarship.

Campus Life :

When it comes to gender ratio the girls have outnumbered the boys . And the extracurricular activities are well and good . There'll be moot court and parliamentary sessions throughout the year. When it comes to sports there be 3 major competition that we are allowed go.

Hostel Facilities :

I have never stayed in hostel. So far as my opinion goes . The hostel for girls is good but for boys there are few glitches in it. There's only one canteen which offers food which is just satisfactory . The mess of the hostel is very good serving Non-veg every 3 days in a week.

Exam Structure :

Exams happen twice a year . One on November and another on April . There are 5 papers for a student to clear each semester . Students who keep arrears are allowed to move on to the next year. The exam structure is chilled out as it doesn't pressurise us to much . However there are two modules one is the internal which is highly practical and the external which is the semester examination .

Faculty :

The faculty in this university are highly qualified professionals who hold a minimum teaching experience of 5 years. Apart from the permanent faculty , lectures are offered by several guest lecturers who are practising advocates and judicial officers. All these members have cleared their ugc examination.

Placement Experience:

At the end semester, of the course, Students are eligible for campus placements. 23% of students are only getting a place since it is a law course, and most of them opt for litigation. I'm planning to get into litigation in a reputed law firm or with a reputed senior counsel.

Admission:

The admission in the five year integrated law program in attitude is done based on the score of CLAT exam. The exam is conducted annually for entrance into the top law schools across the country. Through the counselling of CLAT I got a seat granted in this institute. Since I was already late for admission I grabbed the opportunity when I got a seat allotted in this institute.

Placement Experience:

The University is known for its good placement rate across various courses and it stands to it when it comes to the law School. 70% to 80% placement rate its achieved each year and the rest have to manage things on their own. As far as internships are concerned this is something which you have to manage on your own as the institute/university doesn't provide internship support as of now

One needs to mention all the details as asked in the form, which can be downloaded from the website, they need to attach a DD/cheque of INR 1000 and send it by post along with the form to the college's official address. The college wil communicate with regards to admission.
