Entrance Preview :
Entrance examination - IIT JEE, Score - 237. I didn't have any particular criteria for this college. I just had my mindset to go only in top 3 IITs and based on my rank in JEE I got this college and I feel so lucky that I got IIT kanpur rather than IIT Bombay and Delhi during my counselling because of lifestyle of IIT kanpur, freedom provided by campus and best part was my wing-mates.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Course curriculum is very soothing for each student like if you want to go in research in your department as well as in other department (if you have interest in other department rather than yours) then in India, there is no other place like this.
Internships Opportunities :
Yes, IIT Kanpur provides internship. Stipend depends in the type of company, profile they are offering, startup or established company and many more things. And internship procedure is not that good in IIT Kanpur because only 40% students get the opportunity of internship. Reason behind this might be students are not prepared for that or a little disadvantage of kanpur (not 1 tier-1 city).
Placement Experience :
Placement and job opportunities are very good in IIT Kanpur. I think each and every student get placed at the end of the placement season (those who have prepared a little for placement). In campus, you have an opportunity to go into any field either related to your core department or analytics or consulting or marketing and other fields as well.
College Events :
Antaragni - Cultural festival of IIT Kanpur which includes different different cultural activities like dramatics, dance, singing, street activities, concert by different bands on the opening and closing night.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
At my time fee structure was feasible but right now I think it's expensive. But money doesn't matter in your studies. In campus, we have banks which provide loan very easily. So the campus have resources for each and every thing. At my time time fees was around 37k per semester but right now it is 100k per semester.
Fees and Financial Aid :
Merit cum means scholarship is provided by our campus which have some criteria to avail this scholarship. Right now criteria is your family income should be less than 6 LPA and your CPI (pointers) should be greater than 6. If you are eligible in under above criteria than you can apply for this scholarship and based on number of application they decide whom to give.
Campus Life :
Campus life was one of the best part of my life. In my job life, I still feel that I should be in my campus. There you can pursue for your interest which is very difficult in a job life. If you have interest in extracurricular, sports, technical side then campus was one of the place where you can fullfil your dreams. Gender ratio is a concern in IITs. In my batch gender ratio was 9:1 (Boys:Girls).
Alumni/Alumna :
Yes, we have alumni group which is very helpful in terms of contact with your seniors. In my job life, I understood why alums are important. If you have any contacts with your alum in other company then it is easy for you to switch between jobs otherwise it is bit difficult.
Exam Structure :
Exam structure is little bit hectic if you haven't prepared for that earlier. If you have attended classes and prepared (which no one does :P) then exams are very chilled out. And labs depends on the department or course you have taken. Like in mathematics department, they have lab only till 2nd year but in mechanical, they have lab till the last year.
Faculty :
Faculty of IIT Kanpur is very supportive. I had very great relations with my professor and still I am in contact with them. If professor found out that you are very much interested in his field then he will definitely treat you like your friend. Faculty of my college expects so much from us. They want us to explore new things.
