Entrance Preview :
SRM University Entrance Examination. We had a score out of 100 when I gave it - I think the format has changed over the years, but I got 61. 60 was the cut off score.
Course Curriculum Overview :
The course structure is apt and creatively designed to ensure that there is a lot of learning, yet there is no pressure that is put on the students. The first semester is where engineering is eased in, and then semester by semester, you start to focus on your selected area of expertise. Good infrastructure and services provided within the labs.
Internships Opportunities :
Internship opportunities are available for almost all students. Various options can be explored depending upon which field and department you are from. 8th semester project work became a lot easier.
Placement Experience :
This is the biggest USP of SRM. There are various colleges out there who might be offering you a degree, but the real test comes when you need a job. There is no point if you study from the best of the best colleges, but are left unemployed. Within our batch of 300 students, 50% of us were placed within the first 3 days of placements starting and that too with TCS, Wipro and HCL.
College Events :
Great environment for the college fests. We had various Technical, Cultural, Management and Sport fests throughout the year. You start by participating in these fests in your initial years and as you become a senior - you actually manage the fests.
Fees and Financial Aid :
I'm pretty confident that the toppers each year did get a scholarship. I didn't get any - but yeah we did have scholarship offerings.
Exam Structure :
The exam structure is good. Neither too bad nor out of this world. I think equal focus is on internal and external examinations. We had 2 cycle tests and 1 Modal exams before the semester. The cycle tests and modal exams contribute to internal scores. It wasn't a stroll in the park, and neither was it hectic.
Admission :
I saw the advertisement in newspaper, got the application form from bank and applied. Luckily the date got extended and I was able to make it. I was reprimanded by my mom for not being able to fill the form within the first due date, but I wasn't going to let go of the opportunity twice. It's a sweet story today, that my mom still keeps telling to our relatives.
