NAYAN RANJAN SINHA's Review On Institute Of Hotel Management Catering Technology And Applied Nutrition - [IHM], Guwahati

Remarks :

I had keen interest in hotel management and wanted to pursue it. The institute has a very beautiful campus and a very good faculty and fortunately I was alloted to this college according to my rank. Moreover it got the cheapest hostel facilities but that too will be alloted as per rank in jee and further from the marks from the semester.

Course Curriculum Overview :

The course depends on how updated your faculty is. The syllabus doesn't change much but the process of work changes. The faculties of the institute are great and highly qualified. Daksha madan is one of the faculty member who is a professor of food production practicals as well as theory, and she is extremely skilled and knowledgeable and strict at the same time.

Placement Experience :

The placement provided by the college is very satisfying and it involves reputed brands like TAj, Oberoi, ITC, Marriott, Westin, Leela and etc. The placement department is exceptionally good and cooperative and they tactfully manage all the placement drives and help us regarding the procedure.

College Events :

The college hold quite lots of events. The recent event that I remember is 15 college member were taken to ihm jaipur for the educational and know the culture tour and few people from their college visited our college too. There are inter College sports meets that our college participates in.

Campus Life :

The infrastructure is quite astounding. It has huge and beautiful campus. There is Cricket and volleyball ground there are indoor games like table tennis and badminton. There is wifi in the college. The size of the library isn't that huge but it's quite significant. There are all types of equipment in the kitchen and it's extremely well maintained.

Hostel Facilities :

The hostel rooms can accommodate 3 people and each student gets a separate locker. Hostel seats are easily available in the first which will be allotted according to the jee marks.but after 1st year hostel will be allotted according to the marks secured in the 1st year.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose philosophy as my major course as I want to learn about the things we experienced and the way they are the curriculum prepares me well enough to overcome in my day-to-day life I haven't faced any need for improvement in the teaching method. Exams were indeed a difficult task as a student, we hardly had a week to prepare ourselves for the examination.

history is interlinked with all subjects. It describes the social formation, decision and mistakes that shapes the world. it gives moral values and mistakes that shouldn't be carried out again. The subject is very interesting and should be considered once.

Course Curriculum Overview:

About the course curriculum, I still wonder why they have to put science subjects on the course curriculum of arts students. They would say it's a basic course but it is definitely not. Those arts students came there to learn their main subjects. I think it is unnecessary to put sc subjects there plus it is not basic. Otherwise the main subjects' curriculum is pretty well organised and planned.
