Remarks :
Now after 2 years when I have passed from KIIT, I am proudly using its name and getting good jobs because of the knowledge that I received from the brilliant faculties, enormous facilities, discipline, and student-friendly environment. The job condition in India is not good in the civil engineering sector but then also many students who are in extreme need of a job get placed here (it may be an IT job, sales job, marketing job, etc.) Few lucky ones receive core job but one thing I can bet that in the long term future, the name of KIIT will not disappoint you. After 2 years of my completion of the degree, I took out time to write this review. Now you can think about how much this name matters. Admission in civil engineering is simple, only appear for the KIITEE (likely to be held in the month of April) exam and 60% in 12th with PCM as a major subject and you are in but you have to get a good rank for CSE and mechanical.
Course Curriculum Overview :
Civil engineering is fundamental engineering and by studying this course, you can apply for various government sectors, PSUs, higher studies, etc., as the civil department has the maximum number of posts. The course curriculum in KIIT sticks to the latest UGC norms. The faculty to student ratio in our time (batch of 2018) was 1:50 but it has been reduced to 1:30 (please cross-check). All the faculty in out time were having minimum qualification as M.Tech from IITs and NITs but now due to new UGC norms, all faculties are PhDs. Teaching includes the use of new innovative methodologies and types of machinery. Labs here are extraordinary and the staffs are very friendly. If you have studied well you'll get good marks but if you are not able to study, somehow you'll pass but this would create a gap in your last semesters, during placements.
Placement Experience :
The placement here is excellent. Even in COVID 19 lockdown period, KIIT is approaching students and giving them employment. Taking branches like ME, CE, guys I am sorry to say only a few of lucky ones would get core jobs, rest of you would get IT, sales, managerial, etc. jobs but most of the government sectors offer appointments to us. CSE, IT, EE, EEE, etc. guys you will get jobs if you have more than 6.5 CGPA. Yes, more than 90% of you will get a job. Campus placement is not a matter of concern here; the question is how much you are getting. In the present scenario of decreased GDP of India, you will get an average package of 4-6 lacs. Some of you may get 8-10 lacs per annum, but more than that is a chance of luck. Core jobs offer to start salary with 3-5 lacs but if you want yourself in government jobs, then don't lose your hope in placements and try to strengthen your concepts and set long-term goals.
Fees and Financial Aid :
Frankly speaking, studying in KIIT improves your all-round development but it cut your pocket down. Yes, it is very expensive, herein KIIT to study for 4 years. Do watch your pocket, if you have a budget of 12-15 lacs then I think this would be a better option as it has a better NIRF ranking (24). Moreover, if you think that you will get a job of that worth, then my friend I am sorry to say that you are not going to fulfill your expectations in the present scenario of jobs in India. You will average a job package of a maximum of 4-6 lacs per annum. Some companies offer few students (about 20% of the total engineering student, most of them are from CSE, EEE, 2-3 from CIVIL, ME) a package of 7-10 lacks per annum. (placement data for all branch students). If you belong to any category (EWS, OBC, SC, ST, PH), you can get scholarships from your respective state governments.
Campus Life :
The campus life in KIIT would be the most memorable 4 years of your life. You can participate in different events and fests. Simply, it gives an opportunity to all of you to develop yourselves in the field you want. KIIT Fest is the annual fest whose budget cross over a crore and it continues for 4-5 days. There are many social groups, many gyms, many swimming pools, etc, I can't even remember many things now. Just one thing, I would say, you would lead a lavish life but please do not leave your studies in this lavishness. Books fees are included in the fee. they would provide you with 2/3 books per subject and the rest you can access from the library. The central AC study room in each department and canteens operates for 24 hours. it consists of all possible books of any subject, all newspapers published in each language, all journals, magazines. The classroom is well equipped with the latest computers and projectors.
Hostel Facilities :
The 3 lacs that I wrote was including the hostel fee. The rooms are 3/2 bedded non AC/AC well spacious and well furnished. the cleaning of the room is on a daily basis. you can opt for laundry or you can hand over your clothes to sweepers for washing. They will wash them in your bathroom only. The menu is good including all food meals (north Indian to south Indian), but you all know what is the quality of food served in hostels. But then also, here they will not disappoint you, the food quality is above average. You can also rent a PG but hostels are better and in my opinion, you should try a hostel life of 4 years. It comes once in a lifetime.
