Remarks :
Good: 1) Best private college in Odissa. KIIT is a brand not just a college. 2) It is recognized all around the world with the efforts of its founder Dr. Achutya Samanta. 3) There is an overall development of student as they are equally involved in academics and extra-curricular activities. Bad: 1) Nothing as such. But the batch size huge.
Course Curriculum Overview :
I strongly believe that these four years will prepare you for life. The kind of pressure you have to handle during your engineering days is immense. Still, you'll be able to find time for co-curricular, hobbies and leisure. KIIT follows a very streamlined process for conducting exams. During our time, the exams were divided into 3 parts in each semester. Midsem exam-25 marks Attendance and Assignment-15 marks Endsem exam- 60 marks People who fail or are unable to attend the exam are given another chance in the form of RE exams. There are more than 40 theory papers and 10 practicals in the span of 4 years. They were structured in such a way that it was helpful to retain the knowledge till the time of your placement. During campus placement special efforts are put by the University towards each and every student so that they could crack a good package and for the overall development of their personality.
Placement Experience :
Placement are excellent. If you are above average you could easily secure placement in companies like Delloite, Mu sigma, Robert Bosch, HSBC, ZS Associate, L&T, Relience, Standard Chattered, Infosys, Accenture etc. General steps followed by the companies are shortlisting aptitude exam, elimination Group Discussions and Personal Interview (Technical and hour). KIIT has the record of placing all the students except those who voluntarily opted out of the process. They put special focus on each student and help them identify their strength and weakness.
College Events :
KIIT FEST, MUN's, UDGHOSH, YOUTH PARLIAMENT, HACKATHONS, GAMING COMPETITIONS, SPORTS LEAGUES (cricket, football, basketball and volleyball), Global research seminars for publishing your own papers and presenting them in front of the scientific fraternity.
Fee Structure And Facilities :
The fees structure would be in a the expensive side. My program was B Tech(ECE) 2015-19 batch and fee was 12 lacks including hostel and laptop. As per my knowledge, the recent fee structure was 16 lacks including hostels and laptop for 4 years. But again you'll be getting world class facilities for that money. Fees could be paid thourough NEFT, demand draft, Paytm, cheque. Additional fees are just Rs 1000 (exam fee) that is to be submitted each semester before the endsem exams. You'll also need to submit money during laptop that is provided by the University to every student. Rest assured you'll get the best trending laptops. In 2015 we got laptops of Dell with 16 gb ram, 1 TB hard drive and 2 gb graphics @Rs. 45000 with 4 years extended warranty.
Fees and Financial Aid :
KIIT does offer scholarship to top 3 students of the batch/department. There is no requirement to apply for it as it is given on a merit basis. The scholarships ranges from 20% to 50%.
Campus Life :
KIIT University will provide you with worldclass facility w.r.t labs, classroom, Libraries. If you have a doubt check the internet. Undoubtedly, the campus life will be great with lots of shop and restaurants nearby. Gender ratio is almost equal in all departments except mechanical, civil, and electrical branch. No dorm/student parties as such. Workshops are conducted frequently of various niche. There are many societies for teaching, drama, social services, robotics, debating and many more. You'll also get access to Gym, swimming pools, and other sports courts at a very nominal rate. You'll find people from Afghanistan, parts of Africa and Europe who come to study in exchange program. KIIT is a very tolerant universe. Moreover, there is no scope of raging because there are CCTVs in every corner of the college and if someone is found guilty he'll be fined Rs.20000 or might be terminated from the college immediately.
Hostel Facilities :
The best part of a student's college life is hostels. KIIT provides you with the best of facilities w.r.t hostels (AC or non-AC). Hostels can be opted for 2/3 sharing. Food is good with a mix of north indian, south indian and oriya cuisine. There is food court beside every hostel functional 21 hours a day. You can get all necessary stuffs there. I had friends living in nearby PG's. Food can be an issue there. Rent ranges between 5000-7000 as Bhubaneshwar is not an expensive city.
Alumni/Alumna :
Alumini network is great. Your seniors are always ready to help you may it be in your academics or personal life. I am personally in touch with so many of my seniors.
Admission :
KIIT conducts its own entrance exam. You'll get ranks according to your performance in the exam. Based on that rank you'll be eligible for different department CS/IT/ECE/EEE etc. Taking the exam was free of cost during our time, I hope the application form is still free. Generally the classes of new batches commence in the month of June. Factors that lead me to choose KIIT were its diversity, placements, infrastructure, faculty and alumini networks.
Faculty :
There are professors (PHD), lecturers(Masters) and fresh teachers who just got graduated from elite IITs/ NITs (B Tech). Average age of faculties would around 40. No of faculties are more than 150 for 8-9 departments. Mostly the teachers are great as they have huge experience w.r.t to the field that they are teaching and the industry demands. Moreover, they are very supportive and cordial.
