IIEST Shibpur is a well-known institute in India. Although it has faced some challenges in recent years, it has been making progress. Aerospace Engineering is the newest department at IIEST, having been established in 2011 by branching out from the Mechanical Engineering Department. Despite being a small batch, the department has a lot of potential.

When it comes to faculty, IIEST has an edge over SRM. The Mechanical Department, in particular, is considered one of the premier departments at IIEST.
IIEST also has better laboratory and infrastructure facilities than SRM, which is important for students pursuing engineering degrees.
In terms of placements, both IIEST and SRM are not doing great. IIEST has the excuse of being a new player in the game, while SRM has had the department for a long time. However, IIEST does have slightly better placements than SRM.

It's important to note that ranking colleges based solely on placements is not always accurate. Research output is often a more important criterion to consider.
