IIIT Nagpur Plans to Establish its own IT Park on Campus in Coming Years

New Delhi: IIIT Nagpur is now planning on establishing its own IT park on campus ground. The Information Technology park will be inaugurated in two years at the Waranga campus, Wardha Road. 

This initiative of IIIT Nagpur will be counted as the first among all IIITs in India to have their own IT Park facilities for students and faculty members on campus ground. With its establishment, students will have the opportunity to take internships in software units. 

The announcement to introduce an IT park at IIIT Nagpur was made during a media interaction of the institute on Monday, January 24, 2022. The institute stated that information about this initiative will be shared during the convocation ceremony on January 28, 2022. 

“The convocation ceremony would be held from 10.55 am in the virtual mode in view of the Covid-19 pandemic restrictions. Union minister of state for education Suhas Sarkar would be the chief guest and deliver the convocation address,” said IIIT-N Charge Dean, Ashwin Kothari.

During the virtual event, about 195 IIIT Nagpur B.Tech Course students and 50 PG Diploma in Information Communication Technology (ICT) students will receive their diploma and degree certificates through virtual mode. 

Union Education Secretary, Sanjay Murthy, IIIT Nagpur Board of Governors (BOG Chairman) along with Director Omprakash Kakde, Registrar Kailash Dakhale, Kothari, and other IIITN Faculty Members will join the first convocation ceremony for session 2022. 

The event will further include the introduction of a plan to establish an IT Park to boost recruitment activities on the campus. Furthermore, the park will also include an international standard community center, where students will be able to get global internship opportunities. 

While talking about the IIIT Nagpur Placement 2022 data, Director Omprakash Kakde said that the institute has recorded over 73% placement opportunities during its first placement drive, while 85% of students received placement packages during the second session.

For the session, 2021-22, the highest salary package offered to last year students of various IIIT Nagpur UG, PG Programs was recorded at INR 46.75 LPA and the average for the latest session students stood at INR 8.44 LPA. 

"In the third batch that will graduate this year, 73% students have already been placed, while interviews and recruitment are underway" IIIT Nagpur Director further added.
