The Philosophy, Politics and Economics programme is offered by University of Groningen. What will you learn? The programme will equip you with the central theoretical and methodological tools from PPE that allow you to understand and critically examine complex problems ranging from global poverty to the financial crisis. You will learn to review the political and economic complexities of organizational structures. You will see what is at stake in theories of democracy, political power, collective decision-making, social deliberation and economic growth. And you will learn how to apply theories and methods to concrete problems both locally and globally.
Job prospects
PPE is an academic Master's degree programme that prepares you for work in public service, banking and finance, commerce, journalism, politics and public policy making. In all of these domains, you will use your skills to address societal problems and policy questions.
Our PPE programme provides you with the knowledge, insight, and skills that will prepare you for careers in organizations as diverse as national or international public administrations, governmental and non-governmental organizations, private businesses and banks, think tanks and research institutions.
In the Theories of PPE module, we focus on key concepts and theories, including rationality, utility, efficiency, equality and fairness. You will learn how to apply these concepts and theories to issues such as productivity, property rights, social security, markets, intergenerational justice, environmental policy, collective action, and voting.
