  • It depends on the course; for some theoretical courses, it's changed every year, but for some courses, the syllabus changes every year. So overall it's updated.
  • I have been working on a research project with professors. Industrial exposure is provided to co-op students. But even without that, if you have good experience back in your country, you can find multiple opportunities.
  • Timings could be any time, and for master's you would have a maximum of 6 lectures a week. that can vary per course. but 1.5 hours of lecture and 2 lectures per week for a course.
  • Depends on the course; one could have 200, another could have 20. All depends on the course you choose.

Fees

  • 48-56000 CADs

  • To complete the degree, we were required to take 8 courses over 3 to 4 non-stop semesters. The difficulty of the courses depends on the professor who is taking the course. The courses were a very good balance of theory and practical assignments and projects.
  • Positive aspect is that the courses here teach you how to apply certain research to implementation, focusing more on practical and developmental approaches. Negative side would be that the marking scheme and strictness of passing the course were tough.
  • In a day there would be a maximum of 2 classes and the timings can be Mornings 10-12 pm, evenings 5-7 pm, and nights 7-9 pm.
  • Average number of students in class depends on the subject; if it's a major subject that's a degree requirement, then the class can be 100-120 students. some of my other course strengths were 20-50 people.
  • There were 15-20 Indian students that were enrolled in my course.

Fees

  • For me, the total tuition fee charged for the 4 semesters i took was 56,000 CAD (3 full-time semesters and 1 part-time semester). Flexibility here is that you can complete a master's in 3 semesters as well then your fee would be 48,000 CAD. Per semester fee for me was 16,000 CAD. I didn't take a hostel since it was tough to get into, but for hostels, it's 3200 to 4000 CAD per semester (4 months), depending on the locality of the hostel. The tuition fee includes all amenities like sports, gym, laboratory, library, etc.
  • Fee payment was semester-wise but it's flexible here; you can pre-pay the tuition and the system automatically deducts the fee.
  • Monthly expenses, including rent and groceries, will range from 1000 to 1500 CAD per month. rent in Waterloo ranges from 600 to 1000 CAD, from shared space to a private room in an apartment. Transportation was included in the tuition fee. Rest 400-500 CAD are regular expenses which include groceries and food.

  • As i mentioned in the previous sections; course work in general is a bit tougher. but not impossible. There would be a very good mix of theory and practical learning. Learning is mostly self-driven and based on assignments.
  • Would be a little hard initially to get used to the teaching style.

Fees

  • - Fees is paid per semester. Its not per course like other universities.
We can do as many courses as we can for the same fee. 2-4 i the max no.of courses students do. There is an option to switch to part-time for the last term and reduce the fee by half. I did 4 courses in one semester to reduce the load in last term and converted to part-time (this would still count as a FT term)
    - 16,500 CAD per semester
    - Avg. monthly expenses:
    Rent: 800
    Groceries: 200
Transportation: Usually free with student card from university, other wise 50/month

Each student has to complete a minimum of 8 courses of 1.0 credits each. These courses can be completed in 3-4 terms. The courses included advanced computer science concepts which added value to the profile. Each course had around 60 students enrolled in a term. So, the faculty-to-student ratio was 1:60. Regular assignments and quizzes were given to assess the students. There were also mid-term and end-term exams and some courses also included projects.

Fees

This course is quite expensive in terms of the academic fee. It costs around $15k for 1 term(4 months). Students are expected to self-fund their education as there are no scholarships for this program.
