  • The possible applications are almost endless – from the diagnosis and treatment of human diseases and improved production of therapeutic agents to the development of enhanced crop species, transgenic organisms for new drugs, biosensors for environmental pollutants and improved waste treatment processes.
  • Be prepared to work as a professional in one of the most exciting areas of modern science by combining theory and specialised practical training in the life sciences with the study of related business, legal, ethical and social issues. The degree is underpinned by knowledge in entrepreneurial and corporate biotechnology.
  • The degree provides you with practical experience that prepares you for the workforce.

    • Undertake research laboratory placements.
    • Participate in one-on-one mentoring sessions with industry and medical research leaders.
    • Choose to complete a six-week summer research project and/or a nine-month honours research project in industry, research organisations or appropriately accredited institutions nationally.
    • Compulsory topics in laboratories include practical exercises that require manual dexterity.
  • Understand science in the global market through commercialisation, entrepreneurship, financial management and business.
  • Offers research project placements within the University, Flinders Medical Centre and the biotechnology industry.

Eligibility & Entry Requirement

  • Completion of a CBSE School Certificate with an average of at least 65% in best 4 subjects (excluding local language).
  • Completion of a ISC School Certificate with an average of at least 70% in best 4 subjects (excluding local language).
  • Achieved the required test score for the course you are applying for. The IELTS and equivalent scores to meet the various levels are shown in the table below. IELTS, TOEFL, PTE and Cambridge tests must be taken in a registered testing centre.; or
  • Successfully completed an approved secondary or tertiary qualification, taught in the English language in a country where English is the official language or the main language spoken (for up to an overall IELTS of 6.5) with evidence no more than five years old on the proposed date of commencement of the course.
